When: Science Day for 3-6 graders is Saturday, March 23, 2013, 11:45 - 4:30 pm

Science Day is just ONE event in our Amazing Science Festival for all ages (children and adults). For more information on Science Festival, please go here.

Details:

  • There must be a parent or guardian present for all students (one adult can bring a group of students). Parents can observe or can relax in a provided space with wireless internet access. There will also be planned activities for parents, to be posted here closer to the date. Snacks and coffee are available for purchase.
  • "Like" the Facebook page to stay updated and for an opportunity to win prizes, details coming later.
  • Students will be divided into groups and guided through a series of fun, hands-on science demonstrations and activities that reinforce the Virginia Standards of Learning. 2012 activities will be announced in the spring. 2011 activities included:
    • Bottle Rocket Competition
    • Science Activity Booths
    • Sound and Music
    • Chemistry: TLC
    • Nuclear Power
    • Psychology Experiments
    • Organic Garden
    • Animal Activity
  • Additional information for teachers can be found here. We invite teachers to participate, to consider bringing your classes, and for the teachers to register to receive recertification points, lesson plans, and additional classroom information.

  • There will be exciting activities and wonderful prizes. All students will be given a t-shirt, a light snack, and a certificate of completion.
  • Students do not need to prepare or bring anything. They should wear comfortable clothing for activities indoors and out, and they should eat lunch before they come.
