60-62 --> D- --> 61
0-59 --> F --> 50**

*The grade of A+ is reserved for assignments. A course grade cannot be higher than an A, so for course grades, 93-100 is an A.

**The numerical value of an F may depend on the nature of the assignment. A missing assignment is a 0, while a poorly done assignment assigned a letter grade of an F may be worth as many as 50 points.

Regular rounding rules apply: any decimal value 5 or above rounds up and less than 5 rounds down, e.g. a 92.5 is an A.

For letter grades on a 100 point scale, a D equates to a 65, a C equates to a 75, a B equates to an 85, and an A equates to a 95. There are some assignments that you cannot get higher than an A on, so the highest grade for those assignments will be a 95. In an assignment that is grade-based, and not point-based (typically something that is graded on the basis of a letter grade), the highest grade you can typically get is an A. An A+ is reserved for exceptional work beyond the expectations of the class. A grade of A is worth 95 points on a 100 point scale. So for many assignments (graded with a letter grade), the highest grade you can get is typically equivalent to 95 out of 100 points. If you get more than 95 points (or 95%) on any assignment – whether letter-grade-based or points-based – then you have either exceeded the expectations of the class or you are getting extra-credit points. For an assignment that is given full credit for simply getting it done – a completion grade – there is no such thing as exceeding the expectations of the course, so that assignment will get a 95/100. The highest grade you can get for a class at the College is an A, and an A is anything with a points value of 93 or higher. So if you get a 95 (or even a little less) for all your grades, you will get the highest possible grade in the class, an A.
