Welcome to Physics 3331 for the Spring of 2022!
Course: Electronics Lab Offered: TF 1:15-4:15 + 6 hrs. self-scheduled lab for each lab MR320 Professor: Peter Sheldon Martin 316, x8488 (Office), 238-5681 (Cell) Texts: There is no required text for this class. I will put some reference resources on "reserve" in the lab as the semester progresses.
Course Comments: This is an intensive lab/lecture course with three hours of lab/lecture each week; some labs are two-week labs, and others are to be done in one week. The student is expected to learn a large range of electronic principles through hands-on experience, and should be able to apply them to experimental work. Anyone who does any work in a laboratory setting needs to understand electronics through skills gained in handling electronic instruments - theory is not enough. We will do six extended laboratory experiments involving circuit construction, and a final project.
You are expected to do independent work and calculations, and to be able to analyze and describe your circuits. Since this is an intensive, 4 credit lab, as well as three hours in lab each week, you are expected to spend a minimum of 6 hours on your own on the labs, not including the writeup. A final project will culminate in a presentation of your results to the rest of the class.
