Computer notes: these are the software programs we have used.
- Excel:
- I believe you are all competent at Excel by now, although if you need any help, ask me
any time.
This is a link with some of the
basic commands we will be using in addition to instructions on how to use the Solver
for curve fitting.
- Mathematica, MatLab, MathCad, Maple, etc.:
- You may need to use Mathematica, MatLab,
or Mathcad
for calculations.
- Word:
- I suggest you use this for equations, and copy them to your web report. I believe
you are all competent with Word by now, although if you need any help, ask me any time
- LoggerPro:
-
Check this link for the Vernier Interface and LoggerPro. The Vernier Interface is pretty straight-forward. I will show you
how to use it when we need to.
- LabView:
- A good reference is Advanced LabVIEW Labs by John Essick.
We probably will not use it this semester.
- CircuitMaker:
- Circuit Maker, student version, is distributed free. You may download and install
it on any computer (if you would like to install it on the Physics Lab machines, please
let me know.) To install, click
on this link, choose to download, and then double-click on the file you
downloaded. Here are
hints on using
Circuit Maker.
- SigmaPlot/Origin/Mathcad:
- Are graphical data analysis programs. Origin used
to be my choice for curve-fitting, although you may
want to use MatLab's or Excel's Solver. We have licenses and manuals for
old versions, take your
pick!
