Welcome to Physics 351 for the spring of 2017!
Course: Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics Offered: TTH 1:30-2:45 Martin 315 Professor: Peter Sheldon Martin 316, x8488 (Office), 238-5681 (Home) Text: Thermal Physics, Daniel Schroeder (1st and only edition)
Course Comments: The course goals are to study and learn topics in thermodynamics and statistical physics at the sophomore-junior level, and to strengthen problem solving skills. We will rely on your past understanding of thermodynamics and calculus and will use computers and do labs to aid in problem-solving. We will cover the topics of energy and the basic laws of thermodynamics, and Boltzmann and quantum statistics.
