We have both anecdotal and statistical evidence that persons with a degree in physics do well in a huge spectrum of careers, and not only in the traditional track. Physics alumni are engineers, computer scientists, insurance actuaries, teachers, managers, patent lawyers, financial analysts, musicians, mathematicians, statisticians, education administrators. They have made careers in business, chemistry, meteorology, geology, biophysics, medicine, and many other fields.

Going to medical school?

According to the Association of American Medical Colleges' annual compendium, Medical School Admission Requirements (1996, available in most libraries), the medical school acceptance rates for applicants with various science majors are as follows:

Physics 47 %
Chemistry 42 %
Biology 35 %
